55+ Games Nationals 2024 - Quebec City, PQ

More than 200 Nova Scotia 55+ Games athletes, participants and delegates attended the 55+ Games National Championships in Quebec City, PQ recently held, August 2024.   Delegates from all over Canada enjoyed visiting beautiful Quebec City and surrounding Quebec regions while experiencing perfect weather, friendly competition, team spirit and comradeship.

The games were a complete success despite there being challenges experienced with transportation and event schedules. Our diligent, hard-working Quebec City Hosts did their very best to help overcome any challenges and adjust on the go. We were all very impressed.  Our Hosts had hoped to welcome approximately 2000 attendees, yet an unexpected 2800 participants registered and ended up attending!  Remarkable. The facilities for events were very impressive and volunteers worked very hard to accommodate any last-minute changes.

Thank you once again to all athletes, participants and the delegates that made the effort to attend and represent Team Nova Scotia 55+ at the National Games.

Thank you very much to Nova Scotian flag bearers Butch and Joy McKay (NS 55+ Board Secretary) for their participation, guidance and leadership during the Opening Ceremonies.

The crème de la crème was our Team being outfitted with special blue NS 55+ headwear, everyone looked outstanding, very sharp. Thank you everyone for organizing this and, thank you to NS 55+ Provincial delegates, representatives and Regional Directors for the amazing job they performed with respect to organizing, managing and directing all NS Provincial athletes, delegates, supporters and participants. Very much appreciated, our hats off to you!

Our Hosts provided a delicious meal during the Closing Ceremony and then delegates from across Canada danced and celebrated our special time together!  As proud Nova Scotians and Canadians, it was quite an experience and sight to behold.

In special honor and as further surprise our Team and delegates from Nova Scotia were enjoyed the good cheer of the Closing wherein it was announced that NS 55+ won the SPIRIT AWARD! This Spirit Award is a very important award of recognition for the delegates of a Province or Territory who most exemplify the “spirit” of the Games through positive attitude, friendly interaction and respectful competitive behavior.

Results for most events  can be found on the host website by selecting each event. Nova Scotia 55+ participant winners came home with 47 medals. Here is the medal tally count for participants from regions located nationally, from across Canada.

Most importantly, NS 55+ and Nova Scotians that attended the National Games in Quebec City, PQ arrived safely back home after a brilliantly hosted event equipped with wonderful memories and stories earned by experiencing fun, fitness and friendship with hundreds of 55+ other participants from all across the country.  Cherished memories. Thank you / Merci Everyone!
